In the last years Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD) from cosmetics has become a real issue. Allergic contact dermatitis is caused by body's reaction to something that directly contacts the skin and the cause of skin inflammation is a hypersensitivity reaction, acting through the body's immune system, to a particular substance or group of related substances. Among the substances causing ACDs there are nickel, chromium, lead, cadmium, arsenic, cobalt.
Since those heavy metals are not safe to human health, the manufacturing of cosmetics is under strict regulations and legislations and thus needs continuous control and monitoring. So considering the increase of contact dermatitis and consequently the problems related to the manufacturing and formulation of cosmetics, the aim of our analyses is to control and to determine the concentrations of heavy metals present in cosmetics and personal care products.
Chelab uses the ICP/MS technique which allows accurate and precise measurements and the determination of almost all the metals of the Periodic table with a detection limit of 0.01 mg/kg.
Test results are available in 7 business days.
