NDELA is a member of the class of compounds known as N-Nitrosamines which are known cancer-causing agents. Many ingredients used in the formulation of cosmetics and personal care products contain as ingredients amines or amino derivates, and basic research has provided clear evidence that secondary alkanolamines and alkylamines are precursors of nitrosamine formation. Cosmetics containing particularly di- or triethanolamine, may form nitrosamines if they also contain an ingredient which acts as a nitrosating agent or if they are contaminated with a nitrosating agent, e.g., sodium nitrite. The nitrosation may occur during manufacture or during product storage.
Since the riskiness related to this substance, there is the need to guarantee in terms of toxicologicy the determination of N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDELA) on the order of ppb, even in complex matrices, such as cosmetics. For this purpouse, Chelab Laboratories have recently developed a new internal analytical method, using LC/MS/MS technique, thanks to its scientific know-how, built in 27 years of experience. The method offered by Chelab Laboratories for the determination of N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDELA) in cosmetics is rapid, sensible and specific and allows a great achievement on performances in terms of data repeatability and reproducibility, being a reliable instrument to control the levels of N-nitrosodiethylamine in your products.
Test results are available within 7 business days.
