Toxins are very dangerous for human and animal health and though the levels present in foods are usually very low, the effect of exposure at these levels for a prolonged period is largely unknown.
Therefore, the reduction, and preferably elimination, of contamination is the long-term goal of all food producers, suppliers and legislative agencies. Mycotoxins are natural substances that occur regularly in foods and are produced by an organism of the fungi species, in fact they can get into the human food supply as a result of the growth of specific fungi on food crops, either in the field or in storage.
The most common mycotoxins are even the most studied and include aflatoxins (AFLs), ochratoxin A (OTA), fumonisins (FBs), trichothecenes, zearalenone (ZEA) and they can occur in raw materials and/or in finished products. The analytical procedure adopted by Chelab includes the extraction of the searched compound from the sample, the purification of the raw extract and finally the quantitative determination of the contaminants research, using UPLC-MS/MS technique. Analytical results are available in 5/7 business days.
PROCEDURE
1. Choose the number of samples: remember to send at least 100 g of your product in well closed packages with humidity < 12.5 % or send stabilized products in order to prevent the development of moulds. Chelab performs the analyses on the following matrices: baked products, cereals, flours and pasta
